Amateur Race
Classique des Collines
The Classiques des Collines also offers two amateur races on the calm water sof the Gatineau River between Wakefield (La Pêche) and Cantley.
The first race includes C2 modified whaling canoes (16’) and other recreational canoes. The other race includes K1 kayaks and other non-motorized watercrafts.
The 20 km circuit is scheduled to be completed in 1 hour and 50 minutes for the modified whaling canoe and 2 hours and 10 minutes for the recreational canoe. These two races will provide participants with the satisfaction of completing a physical and challenging event. The different classes are approved by the “Association des Coureurs en Canot du Québec (ACCQ)”. For information on rules, boat categories, classes, ages, etc. please visit the ACCQ web site: http://www.accq.net . Please note that their web site is not currently available in English.
Purses of a value adding up $1,000 are offered to the various classes of the C2 Race in modified whaling canoe. The remaining purses from the C2 professional Race will be given to the recreational teams.
The Guy Rouleau Cup will be given to the winning team of the modified whaling canoe class.
The Canard Grassouillet Cup will be given to the winning team of the recreational canoe class.
The second type of race is for K1 kayaks race combined with all watercraft types. Top K1 kayaks are expected to complete the race within 1 hour and 50 minutes.
NEW THIS YEAR: Trophies for the first 3 K1 kayaks will be given, and the remaining purses from C2 modified whaling canoe (16’) Race will be given to the K1 kayaks..
All participants must complete the Acknowledgement Risk Form on page 2 of the Registration Form.
Every watercraft participating in the race must have a red number on a white background located at the front of the watercraft on the right hand side. Kits are available for $10.00.
Free parking for racers' vehicles is available at 65 Burnside (Ski Vorlage).
Spectators are invited to the La Paix Park in Wakefield, Riverside Road, in front of Valley Road, to watch the departure.
Spectators are also invited to come support and see one of the most spectacular arrivals at the Festival's Official Site, Chelsea dam in Cantley.
The Guy Rouleau Cup will be given to the winning team of the modified whaling canoe class.
The Grassouillet Cup will be given to winners of each category for the recreational canoe class.
